A stay at Lanscombe House is a special treat so why not enjoy discovering the
many local restaurants we have in the area. Torbay has a huge range of restaurants from the
simple and familiar to some of the finest in the West.
Paul and Lindzie own Rose Cottage in our village centre. It’s a favourite for an inexpensive al
fresco lunch or a delicious cream tea. They have a seasonal piano player and stunning views
across the village. Weavers Cottage Tearooms is another cosy spot. The famous Lutyens
designed Drum Inn (Vintage Inns) restaurant is just round the corner - Brian and his family
will welcome you - ideal for the first night but it would be a shame not to sample some of the
hundreds of restaurants what Torbay has to offer.
If you are looking for something a little more special, there are at least two restaurants
that shouldn’t be missed. The Church House Inn is in the next village of Marldon where
Julian has created a truly excellent restaurant. This grade 2 listed pub was the first pub in
Devon to be listed in the Michelin Pub Guide and has now been voted Devons Best Country
Pub for 2007 by readers of Devon Life magazine. The other treat for fish lovers is Number
Seven Fish Bistro down at the harbour, they specialise in locally caught seafood. I don’t
recall anyone ever saying that it was anything but excellent! For a bit of a gourmet
experience then The Elephant again down at the harbour has a Michelin Star (and you can
enjoy champagne by the glass as an aperitif). At the other end of the spectrum Hanburys in
Babbacombe has won ‘best fish and chip shop in the south west’ 6 times and is world famous!
Those are some of the special treats but rest assured whatever your budget and taste there
are a fantastic range of restaurants we can recommend in the local area.
